Dear Rotary Club of Mosman
I was asked to give you a quick overview of what I have done since returning from my exchange in 2019/20. After returning back to Switzerland, I had another two years of school to complete in order to reach my Swiss HSC. I finished well above average; however, any passing grade would have been sufficient to go to every Swiss university because only around 20% of students even receive this degree. In addition to that, I have recently acquired my Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English C2, which I have passed with Grade A. Furthermore, I gained some other academic achievements, which however, do not really serve me any purpose like for example the 13th place in the Swiss Chemistry Olympiad as well as the reaching of the semifinals of the Swiss Biology Olympiad. During my school time I often remembered certain takeaways from my exchange year and tried to put them to use. This does not only include personal control and people skills but also my view of the world we live in and how I perceive it. Right now, I am taking a gap year for finishing most of my 12 months of civil service. At the moment, I am working in a retirement home with people with dementia. In September I am going to work in a nature preserving program in the Italian speaking part of Switzerland, where I hopefully can improve my Italian which I have continued to take for the last two years. If I am lucky, I can also go to the French speaking part next year to practice my French more intensively.
Having the chance of appearing in your weekly bulletin, which I am gladly still receiving up to this day, I would really like to thank all of you again for the amazing time I was able to spend in Australia thanks to you, for the wonderful things I was able to experience through your doings and for taking me into your hearts so quickly. I hope to find time in the near future to visit Australia and see you again.
Warm regards Kai
