Our Club has a long-standing history supporting projects in Timor Leste (including support for the RYLA and RYPEN leadership training programs) and prior to COVID-19 we had a number of initiatives in the pipeline which unfortunately are on hold until travel can resume. So when recently the RYLA alumni reached out for assistance for purchase of food and cooking oil following the devastating floods the Board agreed to contribute $2,500 to a fund organised by the Rotary Club of Crows Nest which finally totaled $10,000 with contributions from other Clubs. The funds were sent to Timor-Leste for distribution to individuals in immediate need of assistance.

— Update on 7th July 2021 —

You will recall our Club joined with others in our district to provide a total of $10,000 to support flood relief in T-L. Our established network of T-L RYLA alumni were able to identify individuals in most need and to distribute urgently needed supplies. (And it should be noted that as in all projects in T-L the RYLA alumni have an established system to account for all funds back to Rotary in Australia.)
